Doing what I can
We are all different shades of green when it comes to how we run our day-to-day lives. I'm sure you might do things that are not on my radar and vice versa. We're always learning and often when we know better, we do better.
At home, we have a compost bin and a wormery. We buy paper-wrapped bamboo toilet rolls in bulk and regularly order organic veggie boxes from Riverford. We recycle and reuse what we can and we avoid leaving the lights on when no one is in the room. We're all doing what we can.
Below are a few examples of how I try to operate my business in an environmentally conscious way.
Create.net - My website hosting provider
I've been building websites with Create for more than a decade and with the knowledge that they have invested in carbon reduction projects to offset all their carbon emissions back to 2001, they really are an inspiration. Please do check out their credentials and maybe they will inspire you too!
Ecologi - Offsetting my carbon footprint
In April 2021, I signed up to Ecologi to help compensate for my carbon footprint. Not only does Ecologi plant trees, but they also support carbon reducing projects around the world.
Ecologi has a really neat website actually and from as little as £1.25 a week, you can start growing your own forest and make a real difference in the fight against climate change.
(If you do sign up via my 'See my forest' link, we both get 30 trees. What's not to love about that!)
Renewable Energy - Putting money where our mouth is
Several years ago, we switched our energy supplier to Bulb. They may not have even been the cheapest supplier at the time but their electricity is renewable and they carbon offset the gas.
As I write this in the Autumn of 2022, energy prices are at an all-time high. New ideas and technology are being innovated all the time so here's to a greener future.
